My Thoughts: Beautiful Story

Carol Round has done it again!  She has written another book that is simple, but carries a huge message.  In this case it's in the form of Nana's 3 Jars:  Giving Generously (Volume 1).  Carol has written a story that shares the message of how important it is to give.  The message is shared through a story of a grandmother's interaction with her grandchildren.  The story is written simple enough so that children can read it on their own and understand it, but also in a way that is not too simplistic so that even adults can enjoy it.

As I read the story, I drew another message that goes beyond the lesson of giving.  For me, the story's other message is also one that reminds us, the adults, about the crucial role and responsibility that we have in raising our children and continuing with our grandchildren. It's a message found in the Old Testament: Teach them to your children. Talk about them all the time—whether you’re at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning. Deuteronomy 11:19  These words tell us how important it is to make the most of every opportunity that we have to teach our children, not just the importance of giving, but all things that will help them in their own lives, with the hope that they too will pass it on to future generations.

Nana's 3 Jars.  A beautiful story with a beautiful message.
