My Thoughts: A Definite Must-Read

After five years of not seeing each other, former partners Genevieve Austin and Scott Simpson find themselves working together in a completely different capacity. As they reconnect, questions about their past find their way into their present, affecting their new working relationship. This causes some bumps in the road as they navigate their relationship, their feelings, their goals, and their unresolved issues. As they do this, they find themselves drawn into a set of mysterious events that further impact their relationship. A very special pair of intelligent K9s adds an extra special touch to this wonderful story of love, second chances, new beginnings, and intrigue, which author Patricia Johns has flawlessly combined in such a way that makes this a definite must-read that should not be missed.

A Is for Amish (Amish ABCs Book 1) by Shelley Shepard Gray

Book Details:

Title: A is for Amish

Series: Amish ABC's Book 1

Author: Shelley Shepard Gray

Publisher: Kenisngton

Pages: 280

Release Date: June 25, 2024

Genre: Amish Romance

Book Description:

In a heartwarming new series from New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray, four siblings take a genuine leap of faith when they move to their grandparents’ farm in rural Ohio and decide to become Amish.

Siblings Martin, Kelsey, Beth, and Jonny are as different as can be, but they have one thing in common. They’re all longing to reinvent their lives. Raised by their divorced lapsed-Amish father and English mother, they only knew real stability and a sense of family when visiting their Old Order grandparents, Josiah and Sylvia Schrock, in peaceful small-town Millersburg, Ohio. Now the four want to try living with them and joining their faith—much to the Schrocks’ surprise . . .

Martin, the eldest, is reeling from a bad breakup, so he’s especially determined to make a fresh start. When he meets his grandparents’ neighbor, Patti Coblentz, he’s immediately drawn to her outgoing, helpful nature—but is so overwhelmed that he appears blunt and rude. Is there any way he can drop his defenses enough to admit she’s captured his heart?

Always self-conscious about the birthmark on her temple, Patti is resigned to never marrying and busying herself with the responsibilities of the large home and property she has inherited. Besides, Martin’s ill-mannered behavior and disconcerting directness make him the last man she’d ever want to wed—no matter how handsome he is.

Yet given time and patience—and adhering to their grandparents’ unexpectedly challenging rules—the whole family might just find what they’re looking for, even Martin and Patti.

My Thoughts: To Be Continued

When four siblings land on their grandparents' doorstep with a plan in place, what could possibly go wrong?  All they want to do is stay there and become Amish. Surely the grandparents will be super excited for their grandchildren, and they will happily take them on and help them with their transition into growing their faith. Well, it doesn't exactly go down that way. In fact, Martin, Beth, Kelsey, and Jonny are completely shocked at how their grandparents put quite the wrench in their well-laid plan. Now, they have to make unexpected decisions and put a whole new set of plans in place. Who will stay? Will they be able to make the changes and adapt? Will they find the answers they are looking for, grow in their faith, and even possibly find love?

The only way to know the answers is to read this wonderful, sweet, and amazing story for yourself. I was so completely captivated by the siblings what they'd been through, and how it impacted their reasons for wanting to make the change. Shelley Shepard Gray's writing completely touches your heart and draws you to the characters. I felt like I knew them and could feel all of the ups and downs of their feelings, questions, frustrations, and insecurities. It all makes for such a great read and one that has me already waiting on pins and needles in anticipation of the next chapter of their story. I can't wait to see what's next!
